Neon Unleashes ‘Hokum’ This May – Adam Scott Stars in the Latest Vision from the Oddity Filmmaker

Neon is summoning its next nightmare to the big screen. Hokum—the latest supernatural terror tale from Oddity writer-director Damian McCarthy—has officially locked in a May 1, 2026 theatrical release, and with it comes a chilling first look at star Adam Scott.

Scott (Severance, Krampus) leads the film as a horror novelist returning to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes… only to discover the place carries a long, rotting legend: a witch is said to haunt the grounds, and the spirits inside don’t take kindly to visitors.

Peter Coonan (The Alienist: Angel of Darkness) and David Wilmot (Station Eleven) round out the cast, plunging further into McCarthy’s brand of tight, suffocating supernatural dread.

Behind the scenes, genre heavyweights are powering this one up. Spooky Pictures’ Roy Lee (Weapons) and Steven Schneider (Insidious) produce alongside Image Nation’s Derek Dauchy (Late Night With the Devil) and Tailored Film’s Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, and Mairtín de Barra. Executive producers include Ben Ross (Late Night With the Devil), Dan Kagan (Longlegs), Rami Yasin (Late Night With the Devil), and Andrew Childs (The Long Walk).

Producer Steven Schneider teases big things ahead: “With Damian McCarthy’s fresh and unique approach behind the camera and the amazing Adam Scott bringing his talent to the lead role, Hokum is shaping up to be something truly special. We can’t wait for audiences everywhere to experience what we’ve created together.”

Expect witchcraft, isolation, and gut-gripping terror when Hokum hits theaters next spring.
