A24 has released the final trailer for Eddington, the latest genre-shifting feature from acclaimed writer-director Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar). Blending psychological tension with Western grit, Aster’s fourth film unfolds against the eerie backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Set in the isolated town of Eddington, New Mexico, the story begins in May 2020, when a clash between the town’s sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix) and its volatile mayor (Pedro Pascal) ignites a larger conflict—one that pits neighbors against each other and unleashes something far more sinister than political tension.

With themes of fear, paranoia, and control simmering beneath the surface, Eddington explores the fragility of community in times of crisis and the darkness that festers when order breaks down.

The star-studded cast includes Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Amélie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr., William Belleau, Austin Butler, and Emma Stone.

Following its buzzy world premiere at Cannes, Eddington is set to open the Fantasia International Film Festival next month. The film hits theaters nationwide on July 18.

Watch the chilling final trailer below—and prepare for a descent into moral chaos where the real enemy might not be who you expect.
