Gaming enthusiasts can anticipate the highly-anticipated return of The Game Awards 2023 on December 7, revealing nominees across a diverse range of over 30 categories. The nomination landscape is fiercely competitive, with Baldur’s Gate III from Larian Studios and Alan Wake II emerging as frontrunners with 8 nominations each.

As the spotlight shines on the coveted Game of the Year Award, Baldur’s Gate III and Alan Wake II face stiff competition, notably from Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake are also in contention, with the latter securing three nominations.

The horror gaming genre is well-represented with titles such as Lies of P (nominated for Best Art Direction and Best RPG), Dead Space (nominated for Best Audio), Diablo IV (nominated for Best Multiplayer and Innovation in Accessibility), Mortal Kombat 1 (nominated for Best Fighting Game and Innovation in Accessibility), DREDGE (nominated for Best Indie Game and Best Debut Indie Game), Resident Evil Village VR (nominated for Best VR Game), and Dead Island 2 and Remnant II (nominated for Best Action Game).

The returning Best Adaptation category brings familiar names, and genre enthusiasts can rejoice with nominations like Castlevania: Nocturne, The Last of Us, and Twisted Metal.

Voting is now open for all categories on The Game Awards 2023’s official website and the official The Game Awards Voting Bot on Discord. The deadline for voting is December 6 at 6:00 pm PT/ 9:00 pm ET.
