Actor Marc Gilpin, best known for his role as Sean Brody in the horror sequel “Jaws 2,” has passed away at the age of 56 after a long battle with glioblastoma, as reported by THR.

The sad news was confirmed by his older sister, Peri Gilpin, known for her role in the TV show “Frasier.” Marc Gilpin succumbed to glioblastoma on Saturday in Dallas.

Marc Gilpin began his acting career as a child actor and made a significant impact with his portrayal of Sean Brody, the young son of Martin Brody (played by Roy Scheider) in “Jaws 2,” the sequel to Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster horror classic.

Following his role in “Jaws 2,” Gilpin continued to build a respectable acting portfolio. He appeared in various TV shows, including “CHiPS,” “Fantasy Island,” “Flying High,” “Silver Spoons,” and “China Beach.”

In addition to television, Marc Gilpin took on feature film roles, such as “Earthbound,” “The Legend of the Lone Ranger,” “License to Kill,” “Surviving,” “Right to Kill?,” and “She’s Out of Control” in 1989.

After his acting career, Marc Gilpin transitioned into a different field, becoming a self-taught software engineer. He was actively involved with a start-up company and later worked for another firm, where he earned several software patents.

Marc Gilpin leaves behind his wife, Kaki, and their two sons, Spencer (18) and Presley (16). His contributions to both the entertainment industry and the world of software engineering will be remembered and cherished.
