Godzilla Minus One,” the latest addition to Toho’s legendary monster franchise and the closing film at this year’s Tokyo Film Festival, has successfully secured a distribution deal for the UK and Ireland.

Anime Limited, a distribution company based in Glasgow, is set to release the film in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on December 15, with a wide release that encompasses IMAX and 4DX screens.

Directed and written by Takashi Yamazaki, known for his work on “Lupin III,” “Godzilla Minus One” is scheduled for a local release on November 3, courtesy of Toho. This release comes 70 years after the debut of the original Godzilla film. The film’s synopsis revolves around a post-war Japan brought to the brink of destruction by Godzilla’s appearance, plunging the nation into a dire state. In the face of this unprecedented crisis, the film explores how Japan, and with whom, will rise to confront the threat.

In addition to his role as writer and director, Yamazaki also supervised the film’s visual effects. The movie boasts a talented cast, including Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando, and Kuranosuke Sasaki.

Takashi Yamazaki’s extensive filmography includes notable works like “Parasyte” (2014), “Fueled: The Man They Called Pirate” (2016), “The Great War of Archimedes” (2019), “Dragon Quest: Your Story” (2019), “Lupin III: The First” (2019), and “Stand by Me Doraemon 2” (2020). His directorial journey began with “Juvenile” in 2000.

Founded in 2012, Anime Limited specializes in the distribution of anime titles. Over the years, the company has handled a range of well-regarded titles, including “Cowboy Bebop” (directed by Shinichiro Watanabe), “Perfect Blue” (directed by Satoshi Kon), “Your Name” (directed by Makoto Shinkai), and “Patema Inverted” (directed by Yasuhiro Yoshiura).

“Godzilla Minus One” is set to bring the Tokyo Film Festival to a close on November 1, promising an exciting cinematic experience for audiences.
