Anticipation is building for the upcoming horror sequel The Black Phone 2, slated for a theatrical release on June 27, 2025. Following the success of its predecessor, which grossed over $161 million worldwide, the sequel promises to uphold the chilling narrative that captivated audiences.

The original cast from The Black Phone is confirmed to return. This includes Ethan Hawke, reprising his role as The Grabber, a character whose fate in the first film left audiences intrigued. His return, especially considering the character’s outcome in the first installment, suggests a compelling twist in the sequel’s plot.

Joining Hawke are Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora. Their return signals a continuity in the storyline, providing a familiar anchor for the sequel’s narrative. Given their performances in the original film, expectations are high for their contributions to the sequel.

While the production start date remains unannounced, the sequel will continue under the experienced guidance of Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, who are set to write and produce The Black Phone 2. Their previous collaboration resulted in a film that not only was a box office success but also earned high praise from critics and audiences alike.

The first film, based on Joe Hill’s short story, centered on a young boy’s harrowing experience after being abducted by a sadistic killer. The unique premise of a disconnected phone that allows communication with past victims of the killer sets a distinct tone for the horror genre. With the original cast returning, including Hawke’s character, speculation abounds on how the sequel will continue this narrative. Will it explore new dimensions of the story, or will it delve deeper into the unresolved mysteries of the first film?
