Fresh off I Saw the TV Glow, filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun returns to horror this summer with Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, a genre-bending slasher being described as “a new kind of horror remake.”

While not a remake of a real film, the movie plays with the idea in a meta and unsettling way. The story follows a young filmmaker hired to revive the long-dead Camp Miasma slasher franchise, only to find herself pulled into something far darker than a simple reboot.

The official trailer has now arrived, teasing a surreal, blood-drenched blend of obsession, fear, desire, and slasher mayhem.

In Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, years of cheap sequels and a fading fanbase have left the fictional horror franchise on life support. Everything changes when an ambitious young director is brought in to resurrect the series. But after meeting the original film’s mysterious and isolated star, the two women spiral into a disturbing world soaked in violence, longing, and psychological chaos.

The film stars Hannah Einbinder (Hacks) and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), leading a stacked cast that includes:

  • Jack Haven (I Saw the TV Glow)
  • Amanda Fix (Lowlifes)
  • Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice)
  • Eva Victor (Sorry, Baby)
  • Zach Cherry (Severance)
  • Sarah Sherman (Saturday Night Live)
  • Patrick Fischler (Twin Peaks)
  • Dylan Baker (Trick ’r Treat)
  • Jasmin Savoy Brown (Scream)
  • Kevin McDonald (The Kids in the Hall)
  • Quintessa Swindell (Black Adam)

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is officially rated R for bloody violence, gore, sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use, and language.

Produced by Mubi and Plan B Entertainment, the film slashes its way into theaters beginning August 7, 2026, with releases planned across the United States, Canada, UK, Latin America, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, Ireland, the Netherlands, and more.
