BD reports that Larry Fessenden, the creative mind behind acclaimed horror films like “Wendigo,” “Habit,” and “Depraved,” returns with his latest offering, a chilling werewolf horror movie titled “Blackout.”

“Blackout” marks the second collaboration between Glass Eye Pix, the New York-based production company headed by Fessenden, and Yellow Veil Pictures, following their successful partnership on Fessenden’s 2019 film “Depraved,” which garnered great acclaim and was released by IFC Midnight in the US.

The story revolves around Charley (Alex Hurt), a tormented artist residing in a small town. He grapples with his inner demons during drinking binges, all while suspecting he might be a werewolf. Isolating himself from his loved ones, he delves deeper into solitude, expressing his unsettling nocturnal memories through his artwork.

“Blackout” completes Fessenden’s monster trilogy, joining the ranks of his previous films “Habit” (vampires) and “Depraved” (Frankenstein). The underlying theme remains consistent throughout – a critique of the monster that resides within every human – and is brought to life with impressive practical effects. Alongside Alex Hurt, the stellar cast includes names like Addison Timlin, James LeGros, Kevin Corrigan, Barbara Crampton, Joe Swanberg, and many more.

Larry Fessenden, the winner of the 1997 Someone to Watch Spirit Award, is a prolific filmmaker and actor based in New York. As the founder and CEO of Glass Eye Pix, he has produced numerous acclaimed indie films, working with talented directors like Kelly Reichardt and Ti West. In addition to his Monsterverse films, Fessenden has directed psychological horror gems like “Wendigo” and “The Last Winter,” as well as appeared in over 100 films, including Martin Scorsese’s upcoming “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

“Blackout” boasts an Altman-esque ensemble of talent from the horror and indie scene, with several familiar faces returning from previous Glass Eye Pix projects. Among the cast are Alex Hurt, Addison Timlin, Motell Gyn Foster, Joseph Castillo-Midyett, Ella Rae Peck, Rigo Garay, John Speredakos, Michael Buscemi, Jeremy Holm, Joe Swanberg, Barbara Crampton, James Le Gros, and Marshall Bell. Casting was skillfully handled by Lois Drabkin, who previously collaborated with Fessenden on films like “Beneath” and “The Ranger.”

Produced by Larry Fessenden, alongside long-time collaborator and filmmaker James Felix McKenney, indie veteran Chris Ingvordsen, and newcomer Gaby Leyner as Co-Producer, “Blackout” promises to deliver a fresh take on classic monster tropes. Fessenden expresses his excitement to work with Yellow Veil Pictures again, as they deeply understand his filmmaking and have been staunch advocates for his creative vision.

Yellow Veil Pictures will present exclusive footage of “Blackout” to potential buyers at the European Film Market later this month, building anticipation for this thrilling werewolf horror experience.
