Ryan Gosling is light-years from home—and Earth’s survival depends on him—in Project Hail Mary, the upcoming sci-fi odyssey from Amazon MGM Studios. Based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel (The Martian), the film lands in theaters March 20, 2026, and was shot for a full-scale IMAX experience.

Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street) and written by Drew Goddard (The Martian, The Cabin in the Woods), Project Hail Mary centers on Ryland Grace, a science teacher who awakens aboard a spaceship with no memory of his identity or how he got there. As his memories resurface, he discovers he’s humanity’s last hope—tasked with solving a cosmic mystery tied to a substance that’s threatening to extinguish the sun.

But he won’t face the mission alone. Along the way, Grace forms a surprising alliance with a non-human companion that may be the key to saving the planet.

The cast includes Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub. Producers include Lord, Miller, Gosling, and Andy Weir, along with Amy Pascal, Aditya Sood, and Rachel O’Connor. Executive producers are Drew Goddard, Patricia Whitcher, Sarah Esberg, Lucy Kitada, Nikki Baida, and Ken Kao.
