Following our previous report on the rumored ‘Resident Evil’ film codenamed “The Umbrella Chronicles,” new information has emerged regarding the project’s source material. According to varying sources, the film will either be based on the 2007 Wii title ‘Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles’ or the 2002 release ‘Resident Evil 0.’

Production Weekly, a notable website, has shared the synopsis for “Umbrella Chronicles,” which reportedly aligns closely with the game’s Wikipedia page. The White Queen, a Twitter user, was able to provide a copy of the synopsis, outlining the following plot:

“The Umbrella Chronicles” follows Rebecca Chambers, a member of the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (STARS), and Billy Coen, a former Marine. Their journey begins aboard a train that leads them to an abandoned training facility. Inside, they discover that James Marcus, co-founder of the Umbrella Corporation and the creator of the T-virus, has revived himself using leech test subjects. After a tense encounter, Marcus undergoes a monstrous transformation but is eventually subdued by the duo. Chambers and Coen escape as the facility self-destructs.

Adding to the intrigue, the Resident Evil Wiki Twitter account contradicts the notion that the film will be based on “The Umbrella Chronicles” and asserts that it will actually draw inspiration from “Resident Evil 0.” The Twitter account also retweeted user @ClintOCoast, who claims to have spoken with someone involved in the film’s design. According to reports, director Paul W.S. Anderson, who is credited as a producer by Production Weekly, is not extensively involved but will receive a contractual credit.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that Rebecca Chambers will serve as the lead character in the film, further hinting at its connection to either “The Umbrella Chronicles” or “Resident Evil 0.”

It’s important to note that neither Sony nor Capcom has officially announced a sequel to the 2022 film “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City” at this time, so none of the information presented should be considered official.
