The premise of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears: Death and Porridge” is succinct yet potent: Never enter someone’s house without permission. While most of us are familiar with the classic tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, where a curious young girl ventures into a woodland dwelling, helping herself to porridge, testing out chairs, and settling into beds, this film adds a spine-chilling layer to the narrative. Based on the trailer, it appears that “Death and Porridge” follows a group of characters who seek refuge in a forest home. However, their tranquility is shattered when four mysterious individuals arrive on the scene – three wearing ominous bear masks, and one adorned with a Goldilocks mask – bringing chaos and terror in their wake.
Olha Solomakhina, known for her work in “To Happiness,” takes on the role of Goldilocks in this twisted retelling. She is joined by a talented cast including Julian Amos (“Get Millie Black”), FlexSingh (“Tough World”), Jimmy Roberts (“Once Upon a Time in Frickley”), and newcomers Abigail Huxley and Susan Franks. The film also features Robson Medler as Daddy Bear, Jack Barry as Mama Bear, and special makeup effects artist Grace Darling Smith as Baby Bear.
This trend of reimagining popular children’s stories with a horror twist has gained significant traction in recent times. Earlier this year, “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” made its mark, and plans are in motion for a sequel, along with the creation of a cinematic universe that will include dark adaptations of classics like Bambi and Peter Pan, with titles such as “Bambi: The Reckoning” and “Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare.” Additionally, we can anticipate other eerie adaptations like “Cinderella’s Curse,” “Cinderella’s Revenge,” and “Sleeping Beauty’s Massacre” in the near future.
