Following recent news that director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan are collaborating on a mysterious project, which was later revealed to be a vampire movie, Warner Bros. has secured the rights to the untitled film after a heated bidding war, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The acquisition concludes weeks of intense competition among movie studios, with Universal and Warner Bros. emerging as the final contenders vying for the project.

A significant draw for the package was the reunion of Coogler and Jordan, a partnership known for both its artistic success and commercial viability.

Coogler, renowned for his work on “Black Panther,” penned the script and will helm the movie. While specific details are being closely guarded, sources suggest that the film is a period thriller set in the Jim Crow-era South, involving the undead. Additionally, there are hints of anime influences, reflecting Jordan’s passion for the genre.

Joining Coogler in producing are Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s involvement in genre features extends to his role as a producer for “The Dwelling,” a horror film based on a short story, developed by Amazon Studios last year.

As developments unfold, we await further updates on both projects.
