Just a few weeks ago, the conclusion of Kevin Spacey‘s trial for sex offenses marked his acquittal on all nine charges associated with sexual misconduct, including seven counts of sexual assault. With this backdrop, Cupsogue Pictures has chosen to unveil the trailer for the upcoming low-budget thriller titled “Control,” which intriguingly features Spacey as part of the cast. While his physical presence is absent from the trailer embedded above, his commanding voice takes center stage. Notably, Spacey’s contribution to the film is entirely vocal, as reported by Variety.

In “Control,” Spacey takes on a foreboding role, portraying a character who orchestrates a harrowing scheme involving the hijacking of a government official’s technologically advanced vehicle, all in pursuit of vengeance.

Lauren Metcalfe steps into the shoes of the government official, assuming the role of Home Secretary Stella Simmons. Metcalfe, recognized for her prior appearances in smaller capacities on shows like “Bridgerton” and the TV adaptation of “War of the Worlds” starring Gabriel Bryne, brings her talent to the table. Additionally, Mark Hampton, known for his work in “Liaison,” contributes to the cast as Prime Minister David Addams.

The mastermind behind “Control,” Gene Fallaize, helms both the writing and directing duties. Fallaize made his mark with his feature directorial debut in 2017 through the horror film “Cain Hill.” In a conversation with Variety, he expressed, “I stand by the decision to cast Kevin and I would make the same choice again. When we met Kevin, the meeting was as much about us evaluating him as it was him evaluating us. Following the encounter, we were met with positivity and good vibes, without encountering any negative sentiments. Thus, we determined to move forward. It involves a level of risk, but one we believe to be worthwhile.”

The film’s global rights are represented by Tricoast Worldwide, currently in active discussions with distributors to secure releases for “Control” in both the UK and the US.

As the “Control” trailer emerges, the audience is left to ponder their interest in the film. Are you enticed by this cinematic offering? Feel free to share your thoughts by leaving a comment below. Additionally, consider the prospect of a potential Kevin Spacey resurgence, now that the trial has concluded. Is his return something you embrace, or do you maintain a more critical perspective?

Stay tuned for updates on the progress of “Control” as it prepares to make its debut on the cinematic stage.
