Arachnophobes, you may want to look away.
The new trailer for Crawlers has arrived, offering a horrifying preview of the upcoming spider-infested creature feature—and it’s packed with enough eight-legged nightmares to make your skin crawl.
Previously titled Arachnid, Crawlers will now arrive in theaters nationwide on October 16 from Roadside Attractions and Saban Films. The movie was originally scheduled for an October 2 release.
Matilda Lutz (Revenge) stars as Serena, the overworked and underappreciated manager of the Paradiso Palms apartment complex. Unfortunately for Serena, her latest problem isn’t a broken elevator or difficult tenants.
It’s spiders.
Lots and lots of deadly spiders.
And if the new trailer is any indication, the creatures have found plenty of horrifying ways to get inside the building—and inside its residents. One particularly nasty moment introduces a nightmare scenario involving accidentally swallowing a spider while sleeping.
In Crawlers, a catastrophic infestation of venomous spiders sends an entire apartment complex into lockdown. With the building sealed off under a police-mandated quarantine, Serena and the trapped residents must fight to survive as the deadly creatures continue multiplying.
Serena’s intimate knowledge of the complex could make her the key to everyone’s survival, but first she’ll have to overcome her own deepest fear.
Angel Gómez Hernández (Don’t Listen) directs the film from a screenplay by Jayson Rothwell (Polar, Silent Night).
Crawlers also marks the first feature from Badlands, a new collaboration between Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee’s Thunder Road (John Wick, Sicario) and longtime studio executive Scott Strauss (Resident Evil, Underworld).
“Crawlers is a uniquely visceral horror experience that gets under your skin in the best way possible,” said Saban co-presidents Shanan Becker and Jonathan Saba. “It’s a true, unapologetic genre film that delivers the kind of squirm-in-your-seat, racing-heart moments that horror fans live for.”
The executives added that the movie combines intense thrills with the high-octane energy associated with the producers behind John Wick.
