When we first told you about Just Deserts, the upcoming dialogue-free thriller from writer-director Laura Fenney, the production was racing toward its $5,000 crowdfunding goal.

Now, that goal has officially been reached.

Even better, the campaign has already surpassed it, currently sitting at $5,205.

That means Just Deserts has officially secured the $5,000 it was seeking to help bring its ambitious, claustrophobic thriller to life.

You Helped Make It Happen

When we first introduced Just Deserts, the film was still raising funds for its August production, with the team preparing to shoot almost entirely inside a rare abandoned 1988 Gran Fury Plymouth.

The premise remains just as intriguing:

A woman wakes up bound inside the trunk of a car.

She knows she is going to die.

But as fragmented glimpses of the outside world begin to reveal what happened, one question becomes increasingly difficult to ignore:

Does she actually deserve what is about to happen to her?

With no dialogue and virtually everything told through imagery and sound, Just Deserts is taking an unconventional approach to the thriller genre.

And now, thanks to the support of its backers, the filmmakers have reached the funding milestone they needed.

$5,000 Reached — And Still Climbing

The campaign has now passed its original $5,000 goal, reaching $5,205 at the time of writing.

That extra support could help the production go even further as the filmmakers move toward completing the project.

From cast and crew expenses to equipment, sound, lighting, transportation, production design, editing, and post-production, there are plenty of moving pieces behind a short film like this.

And for a movie that depends so heavily on atmosphere, sound, and visual storytelling, those details matter.

The team has already secured its unique filming location—the abandoned 1988 Gran Fury Plymouth—and reunited much of the creative team behind Delivery Driver, which previously found success through the New Haven 48 Hour Film Project.

Now, Just Deserts has cleared another major hurdle.
