Capcom Reveals New Details for ‘Resident Evil: Veronica’, Confirms Third-Person Perspective
Capcom pulled back the curtain at Summer Game Fest on the long-rumored Resident Evil: Veronica remake, though the initial trailer kept most details under wraps. Thankfully, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi later offered more clarity in an interview with IGN.
Hirabayashi confirmed that the remake will stick to a third-person perspective rather than first-person, and that development is being handled by the same team behind the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes.
He also hinted that the studio’s approach will focus on preserving the original’s core identity while modernizing its presentation.
On Claire Redfield’s characterization, Hirabayashi noted the story takes place just three months after Resident Evil 2, meaning her evolution will be subtle but grounded in her recent survival of Raccoon City and training from her brother Chris.
In a separate interview with Eurogamer, Hirabayashi also addressed the title change from Code: Veronica, explaining that the team wanted a more streamlined naming approach consistent with recent entries, settling simply on Resident Evil: Veronica.
Resident Evil: Veronica is currently slated for release in 2027 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
