‘Obsession’ Trailer: Curry Barker Summons a Love That Refuses to Let Go
Love can be a dangerous thing—especially when dark forces are involved. The first trailer for Obsession, the latest horror film from writer-director Curry Barker (Milk & Serial), teases a twisted tale where romance turns into something far more sinister.
The film arrives in theaters May 15 from Focus Features, and if the trailer is any indication, some wishes are better left unspoken.
In Obsession, a hopeless romantic stumbles upon the mysterious One Wish Willow, a supernatural object rumored to grant a single desire. After breaking it in hopes of finally winning over his longtime crush, his wish unexpectedly comes true. But what begins as a dream quickly spirals into a nightmare as he realizes that getting exactly what you want can carry a terrifying, deadly cost.
The cast includes Michael Johnston (Teen Wolf), Inde Navarrette (Superman & Lois), Cooper Tomlinson (Milk & Serial), Megan Lawless (The Girl from Plainville), and Andy Richter (Conan).
Behind the scenes, producers include James Harris of Teashop Productions, Haley Nicole Johnson of Under the Shell, Christian Mercuri of Capstone Pictures, and Roman Viaris. Executive producers include Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, Leonora Darby and Mark Lane of Teacup, as well as David Haring and Ruzanna Kegeyan from Capstone Pictures.
Obsession began its festival run at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and continues making the rounds with upcoming screenings at SXSW, Boston Underground Film Festival, and Beyond Fest Chicago.
