Grief turns deadly in The Arborist, and the first trailer makes one thing clear: what doesn’t heal, rots.

The horror film arrives in select theaters and on Digital February 6 via Dark Sky Films, with an advance screening in Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 28.

The cast includes Lucy Walters (Power), Hudson West (Penny Dreadful: City of Angels), and Will Lyman (Frontline).

The story follows Ellie (Walters), a grief-stricken arborist, and her son Wyatt (West), who are hired by the mysterious recluse Arthur Randolph (Lyman) to fell trees on his sprawling, isolated estate. But as Wyatt begins to experience creature hallucinations and erratic behavior, dark secrets from the past resurface, a haunting awakens, and Arthur reveals the true reason behind their presence.

Written and directed by Andrew Mudge, who also produces alongside Krista Minto, Don Schechter, Nick Santos, Ross Saxon, and Mike Bowes, The Arborist premiered at FrightFest London 2025 and screened at the Independent Film Festival Boston.

Prepare to enter the woods—where grief festers and nightmares grow.
