The post-apocalyptic sequel finds Dr. Kelson clashing with Jack O’Connell’s violent cult leader, Sir Jimmy Crystal, as he struggles to find a cure for the deadly infection.
Filmed back-to-back with 28 Years Later, the fourth entry in the franchise is set to hit theaters on January 16, 2026 via Sony.
Nia DaCosta (Candyman 2021, The Marvels) directs from a script by 28 Days Later and 28 Years Later writer Alex Garland. Alongside Fiennes and O’Connell, the cast includes Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman, Chi Lewis-Parry, and a return for Cillian Murphy reprising his role from the original film.
In The Bone Temple, Dr. Kelson faces a shocking new relationship with consequences that could reshape the world, while Spike’s confrontation with Jimmy Crystal becomes a nightmare he may never escape.
Danny Boyle, Garland, Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, and Bernard Bellew produce, with Murphy serving as executive producer.
Fans finally got confirmation last month that the third chapter in the 28 Years Later trilogy is officially moving forward — setting the stage for this dark, intense new installment.
