‘Under Your Feet’: Sinister Neighbors Bring Terror in New Horror Fantasy from ‘The Platform’ Producer

There’s more lurking in your apartment building than you ever imagined. Under Your Feet, the Spanish horror fantasy from writer-director Cristian Bernard, turns the everyday into a nightmare.

Starring Maribel Verdú (Pan’s Labyrinth) and Goya winner Sofia Otero, the film has been described as “Rosemary’s Baby meets Hansel & Gretel” — a blend of psychological dread, supernatural intrigue, and dark fantasy.

Produced by Carlos Juarez (The Platform) of Basque Films and Guido Rud of FilmSharks, with backing from Netflix Spain and RTVE, Under Your Feet explores the terror hiding behind a seemingly prestigious apartment.

In the story, Isabel moves with her two children into an affordable, high-end building that has a strange and selective admission process. Once they settle in, three elderly neighbors from the lower floor begin turning their lives upside down, revealing a sinister side to the building’s pristine façade.

“This is a remarkably exquisite and visually sophisticated cinematic gem,” says Rud, highlighting its appeal to fans of fantasy-adventure horror like The Goonies, Super 8, and Stranger Things. He also noted the film has strong remake potential for international audiences.

FilmSharks continues to dominate the genre space, with upcoming projects including the creature feature Pacifico and satanic horror The Convent.

Producer Juárez added, “Bilbao and its architecture were the perfect setting for this atmospheric, classic horror story.”

After its long-gestating development since 2017, Under Your Feet world-premiered this week at the Tallinn Black Nights Festival, with distribution plans aiming for early 2026.

Until then, first images and artwork tease a terrifying presence that is anything but human, ready to crawl its way under your feet.
