The holidays are getting dark — and dangerously seductive. Director Paul Feig (Last Christmas, A Simple Favor) is bringing Freida McFadden’s global bestseller The Housemaid to the big screen, and the new trailer teases a glossy descent into psychological chaos, wrapping secrets and betrayal in tinsel and terror.

Set to hit theaters on December 19, 2025, The Housemaid stars Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, and Michele Morrone.

The story follows Millie (Sweeney), a young woman running from her past who accepts a live-in maid position at the lavish Winchester estate. Her new employer, Nina Winchester (Seyfried), seems charming — until cracks begin to show. What starts as a dream job quickly warps into a seductive game of deceit, power, and manipulation, where every smile hides a secret and every gift comes with a price.

Written for the screen by Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys), the film blends psychological tension with Feig’s darkly playful tone. Feig describes it as “a faithful interpretation of McFadden’s novel — but with a few surprises along the way,” adding,

The Housemaid is pure entertainment — a sexy, shocking rollercoaster that’ll keep audiences guessing. It’s the kind of insane fun you’ll want to revisit again and again this holiday season.”

The trailer promises luxury, lies, and a festive dose of psychological warfare — a perfect storm of holiday cheer and pure mindf*ck energy.

Prepare to unwrap The Housemaid when it hits theaters this December.
