Willem Dafoe in Talks to Reunite With Robert Eggers for New Werewolf Film ‘Werwulf’
Robert Eggers is assembling a Nosferatu reunion for his next dark tale, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson officially signed on and Lily-Rose Depp currently in talks to star in Werwulf, a medieval horror film set to hit theaters on Christmas Day 2026 via Focus Features.
Adding to the growing cast, Willem Dafoe is now in discussions to join the project, marking yet another collaboration with Eggers following The Lighthouse, The Northman, and Nosferatu. Dafoe may also be stepping into the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in Eggers’ upcoming adaptation of A Christmas Carol, according to recent reports.
Described as a chilling tale set in the 13th century, Werwulf promises to blend historical grit with supernatural terror. Eggers co-wrote the screenplay with Sjón, the Icelandic poet and novelist who previously partnered with him on The Northman.
The film will be produced by Chris Columbus, who also produced Eggers’ Nosferatu, suggesting this new project will have serious genre pedigree both behind and in front of the camera.
Expect more eerie details on Werwulf as they emerge—this beast is just beginning to bare its fangs.
