It’s no secret that the Friday the 13th franchise has been through a lot behind the scenes with a lengthy litigation period between its original creators and the scattered fallout after the case was settled.

Recently, the brand Jason Universe, which has attained some rights to the masked Jason, made a big deal about a short film in which Jason was front and center. However it was revealed that the “film” is allegedly just an ad for an alcoholic beverage.

Fans are hoping that Crystal Lake will get the beloved horror franchise back on track, although it is a prequel so Jason is presumably not an adult yet. Victor Miller is co-producing the series. He is the writer of the 1980 original.

Crystal Lake is executive produced by A24, Brad Caleb Kane, Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, and Stuart Manashil. Directors will include: Michael Lennox (101-103), who also executive produces, Celine Held, Logan George (104-106), and Quyen Tran (107-108).
