Wicked star Cynthia Erivo is set to produce the feature adaptation of Saturation Point, a dystopian sci-fi action thriller based on Adrian Tchaikovsky’s 2024 novella. The film is in development at Universal Pictures, with Erivo producing through her Edith’s Daughter banner alongside Platinum Dunes, the production company behind A Quiet Place and The Purge.

The screenplay is being written by Minnie Schedeen and follows Dr. Jasmine Marks, who leads a high-stakes search and rescue mission deep into The Zone—a mysterious stretch of rainforest near the equator where the climate is hostile to human life. As Dr. Marks ventures further, she discovers that The Zone is far more dangerous than anyone imagined… and that the intelligence lurking within may not be human at all.

Cynthia Erivo and Solome Williams are producing for Edith’s Daughter, which signed a first-look deal with Universal in late 2024. Michael Bay and Brad Fuller are on board as producers through Platinum Dunes, with Alex Ginno serving as executive producer.

Universal’s Ryan Jones (Senior VP of Production Development) and Christine Sun (Director of Production Development) will oversee the project for the studio.
