Ziggurat Interactive and Poppy Works have unveiled the release date for the brutal Hack-and-Slash title “Slave Zero X,” following the recent release of a gory trailer during Feardemic’s Fear Fest 2023. On February 21, 2024, players will step into the shoes of Shou, who merges with the experimental Slave Unit Prototype to take on the tyrannical SovKhan.

This game marks the latest installment in the classic Slave Zero franchise, which originally debuted on the Sega Dreamcast and PC in 1999. “Slave Zero X” introduces a fresh side-scrolling hack-and-slash experience. In this game, Shou merges with a stolen Slave Unit Prototype, transforming into a furious Devil with the mission to overthrow the iron rule of the Sovereign Khan.

“Slave Zero X” offers a range of gameplay modes and futuristic dystopian urban levels to traverse. Players will unleash brutal combos reminiscent of “Devil May Cry” as they battle waves of genetically enhanced biopunk adversaries, all set to a “gnarly” synth soundtrack.

Staying true to the game’s theme, players will confront multiple mini-bosses and climactic arch-villains in a visually striking blend of 2D and 3D art reminiscent of the Dreamcast era of the 90s.

“Slave Zero X” is currently in development for various platforms, including PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch. To get a sneak peek of what’s in store for next year, be sure to check out the demo.
