Zach Cregger’s successful horror film, “Barbarian,” is the latest cinematic creation to make its way into the realm of video games, all thanks to the collaborative efforts of New Regency Pictures and Diversion3 Entertainment.

The responsibility of bringing “Barbarian” to life in video game form lies squarely on the shoulders of Diversion3 Entertainment, a significant development as they have previously been involved in the production of fan-favorite games like “Friday the 13th: The Game” and “Evil Dead: The Game.”

Tim Hesse, Executive Producer at Diversion3 Entertainment, expressed his enthusiasm for this project: “We’re very excited to work with the team at New Regency to expand on the settings, characters, and creatures of Barbarian. The film did a magnificent job of not only scaring audiences with its unexpected and horrifying twists and turns but also in establishing strong characters thrown into terrifying situations. We look forward to exploring these themes further in the game.”

Yariv Milchan, Chairman and CEO of New Regency Pictures, sees this as a thrilling opportunity to extend the “Barbarian” universe into the world of gaming: “Expanding the Barbarian universe into gaming provides a new way to capture the horror that made the film such a success. We’re thrilled to collaborate with the incredibly talented team at Diversion3 Entertainment to immerse new and existing fans in this world.”

For those unfamiliar with the film, “Barbarian,” which stars Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, and Justin Long, follows the story of a young woman who rents a house only to discover an unexpected occupant already residing there. Despite her reservations, she decides to stay the night, uncovering that there’s far more to fear than just an unexpected houseguest.

As of now, no specific release date has been provided for the “Barbarian” video game adaptation. More details regarding the game’s developer and publisher will be unveiled in due course. Stay tuned for further updates as we gather more information on this exciting project.
