Bethesda Softworks and Marvel Games have joined forces with Arkane Lyon, renowned for their titles like Deathloop and Dishonored, to craft a gritty, single-player, third-person video game inspired by the Marvel Comics figure Blade! Aptly titled Marvel’s Blade, the announcement video introduces the concept and hints at the depiction of Blade in the game.

The game is currently in its early stages of development, with Arkane Lyon spearheading the creation. Promising an original narrative intertwined with the studio’s immersive gameplay and compelling storytelling, Marvel’s Blade will transport players to a quarantined part of Paris, grappling with a supernatural crisis. Vampires have surfaced, terrorizing the City of Lights, compelling residents to seek refuge indoors until dawn breaks.

Bill Rosemann, Marvel Games’ VP and Creative Director, expressed enthusiasm: “In celebration of Blade’s 50th anniversary, we’ve found the perfect match in Arkane Lyon, a team of daring creatives who consistently push the boundaries of game design. Their personal investment and innovative vision for our half-human, half-vampire hero align perfectly in this collaboration.”

Dinga Bakaba, Game Director at Arkane Lyon, shared his excitement: “Growing up with mixed heritage, I felt a unique connection to Blade – a character with a dual legacy. Crafting our own rendition of this figure is a dream and a challenge our team eagerly embraces. We’re thrilled to place players in Blade’s shoes as he becomes the savior of my hometown, Paris, one threat at a time.”

Sebastien Mitton, Co-Creative and Art Director at Arkane Lyon, highlighted their approach: “From Blade’s iconic trench coat to his shades, he embodies a sleek and purposeful persona. This venture is an opportunity to push Arkane’s artistic style further, melding impactful ideas with innovative expertise.”
