The Fontana Sheriff’s Station was contacted by civilian hikers on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., after they made a distressing discovery of human remains in the wilderness of Mt. Baldy. Promptly responding to the scene, deputies from the Fontana Station, in collaboration with the Sheriff’s Department’s Emergency Operations Division, conducted an investigation. The deceased individual was subsequently transferred to the Coroner’s Office, awaiting positive identification. We anticipate completing the identification process next week, and we will provide further updates in due course. Presently, no additional details can be shared.
