The enticing new trailer and poster for “Amelia’s Children” unveiled today reveal that family may not be as idyllic as it seems in this supernatural horror film from the multi-talented Gabriel Abrantes, serving as the writer, director, and producer.
Magnet Releasing has slated the psychological and ghostly horror movie for a theatrical and Video On Demand (VOD) release on March 1, 2024.
In “Amelia’s Children,” Edward’s quest to find his biological family leads him and his girlfriend Ryley to a grand villa nestled high in the mountains of Northern Portugal. Filled with anticipation about meeting his long-lost mother and twin brother, Edward expects to uncover his true identity and roots. However, the reality is far from what he imagined, and he soon discovers a monstrous secret linking him to his newfound family.
The horror film features a talented cast including Brigette Lundy-Paine, Alba Baptista, and Carloto Cotta, all of whom have notable backgrounds in horror. Brigette Lundy-Paine recently starred in the upcoming A24 horror film “I Saw the TV Glow,” Alba Baptista leads the cast of the resurrected series “Warrior Nun,” and Carloto Cotta, known for his role in the witchy folk horror tale “You Won’t Be Alone,” also appeared in Abrantes’ feature “Diamontino,” co-directed with Daniel Schmidt.
“Amelia’s Children” marks Gabriel Abrantes’ first solo English-language feature, and the trailer hints at a horror aesthetic influenced by Dario Argento. The film promises an intriguing exploration of familial secrets and supernatural elements. Watch the trailer below in anticipation of its release this March.
