In the upcoming genre-blending film, “The Unearthly,” ghost hunters are in for more than just a spooky Halloween night. The indie sci-fi horror comedy, as reported by Deadline, has secured the talents of star and producer Patrick Warburton.

Directed by Josh Sternfeld (known for “Fortress: Sniper’s Eye”), production for “The Unearthly” is slated to commence early this year in Connecticut under the banner of Centerboro Productions.

The plot of “The Unearthly” revolves around a team of paranormal investigators conducting a live-streamed ‘Halloween Special’ ghost hunt in a notorious haunted mansion. As they delve into the eerie depths, they discover that the malevolence they encounter is far more deadly than they could have ever anticipated. Patrick Warburton takes on the role of Tank McCrary, an old-school paranormal investigator reminiscent of Ed Warren and Peter James. Tank, who hosted over 20 live television specials in the ’90s before a career-ruining incident, is described as stubborn and egotistical. He distrusts modern technology, preferring to rely on his analog tape recorder, archaic EMF meter, and his own intuition in his ghost hunting endeavors. Tank’s objective is to reclaim the glory and success he enjoyed at the peak of his fame.

Patrick Warburton, widely recognized for his comedic roles in “Ted 1 & 2” and “Seinfeld,” as well as voicing the Disney character Kronk in “The Emperor’s New Groove,” brings his versatile talent to the horror genre. Horror enthusiasts will also recall his contributions to films like “Better Watch Out” and “Bad Milo.”

Beninati, President of Centerboro Productions, expressed excitement about collaborating with the legendary actor, stating, “We are thrilled to team up with legendary actor, Patrick Warburton, who is a perfect fit to lead and produce this fascinating movie, ‘The Unearthly.’ The film is a frightening thrill-ride with a comedic edge, a story twist that the audiences will not see coming, and has a massive global appeal.”

The screenplay for “The Unearthly” was crafted by Michael K. Anderson, Patricia A. Beninati, Jeff Knight, and John Gross.

The production team includes producers Warburton, Beninati, Todd Slater of Convoke Media, Marilyn G. Haft, Ram Paul Silbey, and Kyle Behling. Executive producers for the project are Jeffrey Reddick and Dan Myrick.
