Stone age horrors will be unleashed in “The Origin,” an intriguing new horror project set during the Palaeolithic period.

Bleecker Street has acquired North American rights for the film, which Variety reports this morning. Set 45,000 years in the past, the movie follows a disparate gang of early humans on a quest for a new land. However, their journey takes a terrifying turn when they come face to face with a malevolent, mystical being.

Safia Oakley-Green, Chuku Modu, Kit Young, Iola Evans, Luna Mwezi, Arno Luening, Rosebud Melarkey, and Tyrell Mhlanga star in this bone-chilling tale. Directed by Andrew Cumming for Sony Pictures’ Stage 6, “The Origin” features a script by Ruth Greenberg and is produced by Oliver Kassman. Bleecker Street plans to release the film in fall-winter 2023.
