Warner Bros.’ The Nun II retains the top position at the box office this weekend, closely followed by Disney’s A Haunting in Venice at the second spot.

The Nun II has managed to send shivers down the spines of audiences and critics alike. In its second weekend, the film earned a commendable $14.7 million. This performance is particularly noteworthy given that horror films typically see significant week-to-week drops. For comparison, its 2018 predecessor, The Nun, experienced a 66% decline in its second weekend. The sequel’s current domestic earnings stand at $56 million, with an impressive international tally of $102.3 million.

Number 2 on the list is A Haunting in Venice. Directed by Kenneth Branagh, this film is the third in his series of Agatha Christie adaptations. While it’s closely trailing The Nun II with $14.5 million for the weekend, its overall performance has been noteworthy.

Internationally, A Haunting in Venice has raked in $22.7 million, bringing its global total to $37.2 million. When compared to its predecessors, it’s North American ticket sales have surpassed 2022’s Death on the Nile ($12.8 million) but haven’t reached the heights of 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express ($28.6 million). Produced on a budget of $60 million, the film has received a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating a generally positive reception.
