“Between the blockbusters and the bottom shelf, was a world of films that never got their due. Shot fast, cut rough, remembered forever. This is the story of the forgotten children of the slasher boom.” CREATORVC, the team behind the In Search of Darkness documentary series, is back with Slasher Trash, a new 4-hour documentary that indeed explores the OTHER slasher movies that came hot and heavy in the wake of game changers like Halloween and Friday the 13th. With the doc up for pre-order now, the official trailer has been unleashed.

Slasher Trash is available for pre-order from now through August 14th at slashertrashdoc.com. Check out the official trailer below and grab your copy of Slasher Trash now!

From no-budget backyard productions to enduring cult favorites, Michael Gingold’s Slasher Trash is a deep dive into the dark waters of the slasher-film genre of the late 1970s and 1980s, celebrating their over-the-top villains, fearless storytelling, and unending gore.

The team previews, “Die-hard fans and even mainstream audiences know Halloween, Friday the 13th and the like, but there’s a whole subculture of more obscure, low- (and no-) budget flicks, made with grab-a camera enthusiasm and no concessions to good taste, dwelling beneath them. This documentary will illuminate the countless movies and madmen (and madwomen) that dwell beyond the household-name films and figures that dominate the trend in the pop-culture consciousness. Featuring clips and commentary from the film’s creators, contemporary filmmakers and experts in the field, Slasher Trash will introduce viewers to cult favorites, hidden gems, and the niche and obscure films you’ve never heard of. With a 4+ hour runtime, Slasher Trash aims to give anyone who watches it a long list of psycho-shockers to seek out on video, streaming and at retro screenings.

Writer/Director Michael Gingold previews, “When I was growing up in the 1980s, slasher movies were everywhere, both in theaters and on the burgeoning VHS scene, offering gruesome terrors and cheap thrills of every kind. They continue to be enjoyed by countless fans today, and to influence many modern filmmakers. Slasher Trash is a celebration of these no-holds-barred horror films, one that aims to satisfy die-hard fans while drawing new devotees into this dark world of maniacal murderers and over-the-top mayhem. Get ready for some seriously deep cuts!”
