‘Scream 8’ Gains Momentum with Poker Face Writers Attached
Spyglass Media Group is moving forward with the next chapter in the iconic slasher franchise, tapping sister writing duo Lilla Zuckerman and Nora Zuckerman to pen Scream 8, according to reports.
The Zuckermans are no strangers to genre storytelling. Most recently, they wrote the pilot for Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale, which Hulu ultimately passed on earlier this month. They also served as showrunners on Poker Face and have writing credits across fan-favorite series like Suits, Fringe, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Haven.
The announcement arrives as Scream 7 hits digital platforms following a massive theatrical run, crossing $200 million worldwide and pushing the long-running franchise past the $1 billion milestone.
Reception to the latest installment has been mixed. In her review, critic Meagan Navarro noted that while the film delivers moments of tension and effective scares, it ultimately struggles to stick the landing.
Behind the scenes, there’s also a major shakeup. Scream 7 writer-director Kevin Williamson has confirmed he won’t return to helm the next film, opening the door for fresh voices to reshape the future of the franchise.
With new writers stepping in and the series still pulling massive numbers, Scream 8 could mark a bold—and possibly brutal—new era for Ghostface.
