Universal Pictures, in collaboration with Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, presents “Night Swim,” a spine-chilling supernatural thriller that’s set to redefine your perception of swimming pools. The latest featurette released by Universal offers a glimpse into this hair-raising aquatic tale.

Fronted by Wyatt Russell and Kerry Condon, “Night Swim” is the brainchild of writer/director Bryce McGuire, who tantalizingly hints in the featurette, “Our goal was to forever alter the idea of a relaxing swim.”

This eerie narrative delves into the harrowing story of a family whose tranquil existence turns into a nightmare when they disturb a malevolent supernatural presence lurking in their new home’s backyard pool. Mark your calendars for its theatrical release on January 5, 2024.

Drawing inspiration from the lauded 2014 short film by Rod Blackhurst and Bryce McGuire, “Night Swim” boasts a stellar cast, with Wyatt Russell portraying Ray Waller, a former professional baseball player battling a debilitating illness. Russell is joined by Kerry Condon as Eve, Amélie Hoeferle as Izzy, and Gavin Warren as Elliot, as the family finds themselves entangled in a web of haunting circumstances.

Ray’s dream of a return to the baseball diamond leads him to convince Eve that their new home’s shimmering pool will offer solace for the family while aiding his recovery. However, the murky history of their abode conceals a malevolent force that threatens to drag them into a bottomless abyss of terror.

Penned and directed by Bryce McGuire, known for the upcoming film “Baghead,” “Night Swim” is a collaboration helmed by horror maestro James Wan, renowned for his work on the “Saw,” “Insidious,” and “The Conjuring” franchises, alongside Jason Blum, the creative force behind “Halloween,” “The Black Phone,” and “The Invisible Man.” Executive producers include Michael Clear and Judson Scott for Atomic Monster, and Ryan Turek for Blumhouse.
