Iconic characters John “Jigsaw” Kramer, portrayed by Tobin Bell, and Amanda Young, played by Shawnee Smith, are making a thrilling comeback in the highly anticipated milestone sequel, “Saw X“. However, they aren’t the only familiar faces from the franchise who worked tirelessly to bring this gruesome sequel to life.

Taking the directorial reins for the tenth installment is Kevin Greutert, known for his work on “Saw VI” and “Saw 3D,” and he has been an integral part of the franchise since 2004’s original “Saw” film. Greutert helms the latest installment from a screenplay crafted by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger.

But it’s not just Greutert, Bell, and Smith who are returning franchise veterans; producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules have been on board since the franchise’s inception in 2004, alongside James Wan and Leigh Whannell. Their unwavering commitment to the franchise over nearly two decades has made them key figures in the world of “Saw.”

With their extensive knowledge of the franchise’s lore, history, and the intricacies of Jigsaw’s macabre traps, Burg and Koules are among the few who truly understand the essence of “Saw.”

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Disgusting, these seasoned producers shared their insights into “Saw X” and their role in crafting John Kramer’s lethal traps. Their conversation delves into their journey with the franchise and the sequel’s unapologetic dedication to visceral gore.

Set between the events of “Saw I” and “Saw II,” “Saw X” explores a sick and desperate John Kramer as he embarks on a perilous journey to Mexico for an experimental medical procedure in a last-ditch effort to cure his cancer. However, he soon realizes that the entire operation is an elaborate scam targeting the most vulnerable.

The infamous killer returns to his grim work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature, visceral style, employing devious, deranged, and ingenious traps.

The cast of “Saw X” also features Renata Vaca (“Midnight Family”), Paulette Hernandez (“Crown of Tears”), Joshua Okamoto (“Control-Z”), Octavio Hinojosa (“Come Play With Me”), Synnøve Macody Lund (“Ragnarok”), Steven Brand (“The Sandman”), and Michael Beach (“Dahmer”).

“Saw X” unleashes ocular trauma and more in theaters on September 29th, with tickets available now. Whether you live or die, the choice is yours.
