In the forthcoming folk horror film “Lord of Misrule,” the eerie atmosphere is masterfully orchestrated by director William Brent Bell, known for his work on “Orphan: First Kill.” Ralph Ineson, celebrated for his roles in “The Witch” and “The Green Knight,” takes center stage in the brand new trailer, presiding over an unsettling bonfire ceremony surrounded by masked participants.

Magnet Releasing is set to unveil “Lord of Misrule” in theaters and on Video on Demand (VOD) on December 8, 2023.

The film’s narrative revolves around Rebecca Holland, portrayed by Tuppence Middleton, who recently assumed the role of a priest in a small town. When her young daughter, Grace, played by Evie Templeton, goes missing during the local harvest festival, a frantic search ensues. As they draw closer to finding Grace, the town’s sinister past begins to unravel, and Rebecca is faced with a harrowing choice: the extent to which she’s willing to go to rescue her daughter from the clutches of evil.

The newly released trailer offers a glimpse of eerie Pagan masks and mysterious phenomena shrouding Grace’s disappearance, instilling an unsettling atmosphere that leaves viewers intrigued and apprehensive.

The film also features Matt Stokoe in a prominent role.

Upon its initial announcement, Tom de Ville’s script was likened to cult classics like “The Wicker Man” and “Midsommar,” promising a journey into the heart of terror and folk horror.

The film’s production is a collaboration of talents, with Nik Bower, Deepak Nayar, Jason Newmark, Laurie Cook, William Brent Bell, James Tomlinson, and Alison Brister serving as producers. Mark Fielding, Laura Brook, John Gleeson, Oisín O’Neill, Stephen Kelliher, and Yana Georgieva hold executive producer credits.

As anticipation builds for the film’s December release, “Lord of Misrule” is set to have its world premiere as the closing night feature at this year’s Screamfest. Horror enthusiasts can look forward to a chilling and atmospheric cinematic experience that delves into the eerie unknown.
