Leigh Whannell, known for his work on “The Invisible Man,” is delving back into the world of Universal Monsters with a fresh interpretation of “Wolf Man,” and the talented Julia Garner from “The Royal Hotel” is now part of the cast.

Garner, an Emmy-winning actress, will join Christopher Abbott (“Poor Things”) in this Blumhouse and Universal collaboration. “Wolf Man” is set to make its eerie debut in theaters on October 25, 2024.

Abbott takes the lead role as a man whose family becomes the target of a lethal predator.

The screenplay credits include Whannell & Corbett Tuck, alongside Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Producing the film is Jason Blum, while Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner, and Whannell serve as executive producers. “Wolf Man” is a joint production by Blumhouse and Motel Movies.

This project marks Whannell’s second foray into the world of monster movies and his fourth collaboration in directing with Blumhouse Productions, following “The Invisible Man,” “Upgrade,” and “Insidious: Chapter 3.”

Following setbacks with the Dark Universe, Whannell’s success with “The Invisible Man” stands as a beacon for the Universal Monsters brand, which has faced box office disappointments with recent releases like the comedic “Renfield” and the period horror film “The Last Voyage of the Demeter.” Entrusting Whannell with the Universal Monsters universe once more seems like a prudent decision.

As more details emerge about this fresh perspective on the iconic Universal Monsters character, stay tuned for updates.
