Earlier this year, Sony / Screen Gems slated the horror film Horrorscope for a theatrical release on June 28, 2024. However, late October brought news from Paramount shifting A Quiet Place: Day One from its initial March 8, 2024 slot to the same June date. Consequently, Screen Gems adjusted their plans and bumped up Horrorscope’s release to May 10th, a month earlier than previously scheduled.

Jacob Batalon, well-known for his role as Peter Parker’s best friend Ned in recent Spider-Man movies, leads the cast, alongside actors such as Alana Boden, Adain Bradley, Avantika, and others. Batalon also stars in the horror comedy series Reginald the Vampire.

Based on Nicholas Adams’ 1992 novel, the film, directed by Anna Halberg and Spenser Cohen in their feature directorial debut, follows a group of college friends whose fates seem intertwined with their horoscope predictions. As they begin to die in ways connected to their fortunes, the film delves into whether their destinies are unalterable or subject to change.

Horrorscope is a collaborative effort between Screen Gems and Alloy Entertainment, produced by Leslie Morgenstein, Elysa Koplovitz Dutton of Alloy, and Scott Glassgold of Ground Control. Cohen and Halberg are the executive producers, while Scott Strauss, Michael Bitar, and Lariah Perara oversee the project for Screen Gems.

With the film’s shift to a May 2024 release date, fans of the original novel and those anticipating this cinematic adaptation have much to anticipate. What are your thoughts on the move and the adaptation itself? Share your opinions below.
