With an ode to the 90s found footage films, “Invoking Yell” embraces a dark twist, immersing audiences in a chilling black metal experience. Valladares expresses his passion for the genre, drawing inspiration from iconic works like “The Blair Witch Project” and other found footage classics, combining his love for metal music to create a truly exceptional cinematic journey. The collaboration with Welcome Villain Films promises to bring this unique and terrifying film to a global audience, though the exact release date for the States is yet to be revealed.

Luke LaBeau, head of development at Welcome Villain, praises Valladares and his team’s masterful creation, hailing “Invoking Yell” as a nightmarish tale that leaves an indelible impression. The film breathes new life into the found footage subgenre, reiterating that captivating and spine-tingling stories can still be told through this style of filmmaking.

Set in 1997, “Invoking Yell” delves into the unsettling journey of three metalhead young women, who venture into the woods to record their black metal band, Invoking Yell’s demo tape. As they document their experiences, they unknowingly capture eerie and haunting sinfonias in the woods.

The film stars Maria Jesus Marcone, Macarena Carrere, and Andrea Ozuljevich in gripping performances that heighten the sense of dread and suspense.

Co-written by Valladares and Barry Keating, known for their work on “Downhill,” the screenplay masterfully weaves a gripping narrative that keeps viewers at the edge of their seats.

“Invoking Yell” is a co-production between Vallastudio Films and Moral Bros Entertainment, with Diego Moral Heimpell serving as executive producer, and Vittorio Farfan and Valladares as producers.

Critics are already captivated by the film’s allure, as Michelle Swope praises the nightmarish tale, particularly appealing to fans of found footage films. The movie’s steady camera work offers an immersive experience, even for those who aren’t avid followers of the subgenre.

As the anticipation grows, “Invoking Yell” promises to be a haunting and unforgettable cinematic experience, embracing the allure of black metal and found footage to deliver a uniquely terrifying journey into the depths of horror.
