This Halloween, Paramount+ is inviting us to revisit the eerie town of Ludlow, Maine, with an original prequel movie titled “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines,” a story that delves into the untold chapter from Stephen King’s timeless novel.

“Pet Sematary: Bloodlines” is scheduled to premiere on Friday, October 6, exclusively on Paramount+ in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Brazil. For international audiences, the release date is set for Saturday, October 7. You can catch a glimpse of the unsettling world of “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines” in the official trailer above.

The film has been officially rated “R” for its intense horror violence, graphic gore, and strong language—a fitting classification considering the franchise’s history. This includes the original 1989 movie, its 1992 sequel, and the more recent 2019 re-adaptation, all of which were rated “R.”

The official synopsis for this untold chapter reads: “In 1969, a young Jud Crandall aspires to leave his hometown of Ludlow, Maine, behind. However, he soon uncovers sinister secrets buried within the town’s dark history, forcing him to confront a family legacy that forever binds him to Ludlow. Joining forces with his childhood friends, Jud must confront an ancient evil that has plagued Ludlow since its inception. Once unleashed, this malevolent force possesses the power to obliterate everything in its path.”

“Pet Sematary: Bloodlines” boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Jackson White (“Tell Me Lies,” “Mrs. Fletcher”), Forrest Goodluck (“The Revenant”), Jack Mulhern (“The Boys in the Boat,” “Mare of Easttown”), Henry Thomas (“The Fall of the House of Usher,” “Gerald’s Game”), Natalie Alyn Lind (“The Goldbergs,” “The Gifted”), and Isabella Star LaBlanc (“True Detective: Night Country”). The film also features the iconic Pam Grier (“Cinnamon,” “Jackie Brown”) and David Duchovny (“Californication”).

Lindsey Anderson Beer makes her directorial debut with “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines,” working from a screenplay she co-wrote with Jeff Buhler. The film is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian.

Fans of horror can anticipate a thrilling experience with “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines,” as it joins the Paramount+ Peak Screaming collection—a curated selection of fan-favorite horror movies and iconic Halloween episodes from beloved series. Prepare to immerse yourself in the chilling world of Ludlow once again this Halloween.
