Director Barnaby Clay marks his feature debut with Magnet Releasing’s thrilling film, “The Seeding,” focusing on a lost hiker seeking refuge with a lone woman in the desert, only to uncover a disturbing truth about her situation.

As the film gears up for its release in theaters and on PVOD on January 26, 2024, Magnet has exclusively shared with Bloody Disgusting the trailer and poster for Clay’s compelling venture, “The Seeding.”

Clay shares his excitement about the film’s upcoming debut, stating, “The project has been brewing for quite some time, and it’s immensely gratifying for audiences to finally engage with it. I emphasize ‘engage’ because my goal was to make ‘The Seeding’ an immersive journey. It’s not merely a film to watch from a distance; it’s an experience that plunges you into the grit, the heat, the deterioration, and the raw beauty of its environment.”

He draws inspiration from ’70s films, especially Australian classics like “Walkabout,” “Picnic at Hanging Rock,” and “Wake in Fright,” explaining, “These films left me weather-beaten and deeply affected by their world.”

Clay also highlights films like “Deliverance” from the same era, which delve into primal reactions and the male psyche, adding, “They showcase the raw responses of individuals faced with challenging situations. It’s intriguing to contemplate one’s own reaction in similar circumstances, and truthfully, I wouldn’t fare too well.”
