Set to premiere at the London Film Festival in October is “Starve Acre,” a hauntingly captivating creation by director Daniel Kokotajlo. This upcoming film is being hailed as a supernatural folk horror movie, promising a chilling and immersive cinematic experience.

Starring Morfydd Clark, acclaimed for her role in “Saint Maud,” and Matt Smith, known for his upcoming role in “Morbius,” “Starve Acre” offers a first glimpse of these talented actors in the atmospheric images provided above and below.

The movie’s narrative unfolds in rural England during the 1970s, delving deep into themes of trauma and loss. “Starve Acre” introduces us to Richard and Juliette, a seemingly idyllic family living in the English countryside. However, their tranquil existence shatters when their son, Ewan, begins to display disturbing changes in behavior.

As the story progresses, we find Richard, an archaeologist, retreating into the investigation of a dark folkloric legend. He becomes obsessed with the belief that the ancient oak tree on their remote property holds extraordinary powers. Meanwhile, Juliette seeks solace within the local community as she grapples with the unsettling transformation occurring within her family.

“Starve Acre” is an adaptation of the novel penned by Andrew Michael Hurley, ensuring a rich and textured narrative that promises to haunt viewers long after the credits roll.
