Vincent Cassel took to Instagram this week to announce the completion of filming for David Cronenberg’s upcoming film, The Shrouds. The star expressed his gratitude to Cronenberg and shared his anticipation for the world to witness their latest creation.

Cassel, known for his roles in Irreversible and Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises, leads the cast alongside Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), Guy Pearce (Memento), and Sandrine Holt (“Fear the Walking Dead”).

According to Deadline, Cassel portrays Karsh, an innovative businessman and grieving widower, who develops a unique device that allows him to connect with the deceased through burial shrouds. Installed in his state-of-the-art cemetery, this controversial tool enables him and his clients to witness the real-time decomposition of their loved ones.

However, when Karsh’s cemetery faces vandalism and destruction, including the desecration of his wife’s grave, he embarks on a journey to uncover the motives behind the attack. This mystery forces him to reevaluate his business, his marriage, and his loyalty to his late wife’s memory, ultimately leading him toward new beginnings.

Sandrine Holt plays a mysterious woman, the wife of a billionaire, who approaches Karsh with an intriguing project involving her husband.

Distribution for the film is being handled by SBS International, the sales arm of producer Saïd Ben Saïd (Elle), who collaborates with Martin Katz for Prospero Pictures.

Stay tuned for more updates on The Shrouds as its release approaches.
