Fresh from his comedic role as Clifton in this year’s horror comedy, “The Blackening,” Jermaine Fowler is poised to make a return to the genre with an upcoming psychological thriller. According to Deadline, Fowler has just completed filming on this genre-blending thriller, directed by Steve Pink, known for his work on “Hot Tub Time Machine” and “Santa Clarita Diet.”

This as-yet-unnamed thriller follows the character Allen Perkins, played by Fowler, on a journey fraught with twists and descents into darkness as he hosts a reunion with his college friends for the weekend.

Steve Pink expressed his enthusiasm for the project, describing it as “One of the coolest films I have ever had the opportunity to direct in my career.”

Quotes from the project suggest that it’s more than just a psychological thriller. It delves into the realms of science fiction and the supernatural, promising an intriguing mix of genres. Pink shared his thoughts with Deadline, saying, “I’m grateful for the extraordinary cast that came together around a phenomenal script that explores themes residing in the darker and possibly supernatural corners of the human experience. This film blurs the lines between thriller, science fiction, and comedy elements in a way that will keep audiences surprised and at times, downright terrified.”

The screenplay for this psychological thriller was crafted by Sam Johnson and Connor Diedrich. Joining Fowler in the cast are James Morosini, Pauline Chalamet, Edy Modica, Rob Yang, and Brendan Hunt.

The project was produced under a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement and involved several production companies, including Hurley/Pickle Productions, Phiphen, Range Media Partners, and Gummy Films.

While Jermaine Fowler is well-known for his comedic talents in films such as “Coming 2 America,” “Sorry to Bother You,” and “The Blackening,” audiences can anticipate a more serious side of the actor in the upcoming “Faces of Death” reboot.

As of now, the thriller remains untitled, so keep an eye out for further updates on this exciting project.
