The nightmare of technology is coming back.

Netflix has officially moved forward with “Black Mirror” Season 8, and production on the next batch of twisted anthology stories is already underway.

Creator Charlie Brooker announced earlier this year that Netflix had ordered a new season of the hit series. Now, according to a new report from Variety, cameras are rolling, with production having begun this summer.

There’s no release date for Season 8 just yet, but Brooker is promising that the series will return with even more of the unsettling stories that have made Black Mirror a modern horror staple.

“Black Mirror will return, and hopefully it’ll be more Black Mirror than ever.”

Brooker is writing and producing the upcoming season alongside Bisha K. Ali, while Jessica Rhoades, Annabel Jones, and Louise Sutton are executive producing.

Since premiering in 2011, Black Mirror has become one of television’s most recognizable anthology series, using standalone stories to explore our increasingly complicated relationship with technology.

From artificial intelligence and social media to surveillance, virtual reality, and the darker possibilities of tomorrow’s technology, the series has consistently turned modern anxieties into unsettling sci-fi nightmares.

Each episode tells a standalone story, often building toward a disturbing twist or conclusion that leaves viewers questioning just how far technology could take us.

The series has frequently been compared to a modern-day The Twilight Zone, but Black Mirror has carved out its own identity by holding up a dark reflection of our increasingly digital lives.

With Season 8 now in production, it won’t be long before we get another look into the darker side of our technological future.
