The past refuses to stay buried in the first teaser for The Cycle, the latest horror film from director Jordan Downey (The Head Hunter, V/H/S/Beyond). The supernatural thriller promises a chilling mystery centered around a decades-old disappearance and a horrifying family revelation.

Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil: Born Again, Escape Room) stars as a woman whose life is turned upside down when a body discovered at a brutal crime scene is revealed to be her estranged father, a man who vanished 36 years earlier. The shocking discovery sends her on a terrifying journey into his hidden past and unleashes a supernatural nightmare.

The Cycle will premiere exclusively on Shudder on October 23, 2026.

The official synopsis reads:

“When the body of a man missing for thirty-six years is discovered at the scene of a horrific crime, it’s up to his estranged daughter to unravel his dark past.”

The film also stars Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice, Villains).

Downey co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Stewart, continuing his reputation for crafting atmospheric genre stories with a focus on mystery and horror.

Producer James Harris of Tea Shop Productions praised Downey’s vision, calling The Cycle an original story that showcases the filmmaker’s potential as one of the next major voices in genre cinema. Peter Heller also serves as producer.

Woll has become a familiar face among horror fans, first gaining recognition as Jessica Hamby in HBO’s True Blood before becoming a fan favorite as Karen Page in Marvel’s Daredevil. She has also appeared in the horror hits Escape Room and Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.

With its unsettling mystery, supernatural elements, and a dark family secret at its center, The Cycle looks set to bring a haunting new story to Shudder just in time for the Halloween season.
