Jenna Ortega Stars in Leos Carax’s Dystopian Journey Lily May B

Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) is set to star in Lily May B, a surreal dystopian road film from French auteur Leos Carax (Holy Motors, Annette), Variety reports.

Described in cryptic, almost fairytale-like terms, the story follows a girl, a young woman, and a young boy—each carrying a secret too heavy to bear. They meet at the end of the world and set off together on a journey across a shattered landscape, riding a large motorcycle through abandoned cities, empty highways, and ancient forests.

As they travel through this decaying world, they encounter danger at every turn, yet continue forward—searching for identity, meaning, and “a place to B, maybe.”

The film is currently slated to shoot in Spring 2027, with Hugo Sélignac (Smoking Causes Coughing) producing through Paris-based Chi-Fou-Mi Productions.

Carax himself has teased the project in his typically enigmatic style, stating: “Once upon a time, this is what destroyed us, and this is what kept us alive.”

Producer Sélignac added that working with Carax is “one of the reasons I fell in love with cinema,” describing Lily May B as a continuation of the director’s signature blend of visual poetry, emotional intensity, and artistic freedom—now paired with Jenna Ortega’s rising genre presence.

Early concept art shared by Variety suggests a heightened, dreamlike visual style consistent with Carax’s previous work, hinting at a dystopian world shaped more by emotion than logic.

Ortega continues to expand her genre slate, with upcoming projects including J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi film The Great Beyond (in theaters November 13), Wednesday Season 3 (currently in production for a 2027 release), and Single Female, a remake of Single White Female opposite Taylor Russell.
