The final trailer for Hokum is here—and it’s ready to drag you straight into a slow-burning, witchcraft-fueled nightmare hidden deep inside a haunted hotel.

From writer/director Damian McCarthy, the film arrives in theaters on May 1, 2026, promising a chilling descent into folklore, grief, and something far more sinister.

Adam Scott stars as reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman, who travels to a secluded Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes. But what begins as a quiet, personal retreat quickly spirals into something darker. The hotel staff speak of an ancient witch tied to the infamous honeymoon suite—and the more Ohm listens, the more those stories begin to take hold.

As disturbing visions creep in and a sudden disappearance shakes the fragile calm, Ohm is pulled deeper into a psychological and supernatural unraveling that forces him to confront both the haunting presence in the hotel… and the buried horrors of his own past.

The cast also includes Peter Coonan (The Alienist: Angel of Darkness), David Wilmot (Station Eleven), Florence Ordesh (Departure), Michael Patric (Frontier), Will O’Connell (Game of Thrones), Brendan Conroy (Bodkin), and Austin Amelio (The Walking Dead).

Behind the scenes, Hokum is backed by a strong horror pedigree, with producers including Roy Lee (Weapons), Steven Schneider (Insidious), Derek Dauchy (Late Night with the Devil), along with Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, Mairtín de Barra, Ken Kao, and Josh Rosenbaum.

Following strong buzz out of SXSW, Hokum is being praised for its slow-burn tension and unpredictable descent into terror—building a creeping sense of dread before exploding into full-on folkloric horror.

Tickets are already on sale, with select early screenings available. If you were into Oddity or Caveat, this is one nightmare you’ll want to experience on the big screen.
