‘Hungry’ Trailer Unleashes a Killer Hippo Nightmare That Doesn’t Hold Back
If Hungry Hungry Hippos took a hard left into pure nightmare fuel, you’d get something that looks a lot like Hungry.
The upcoming creature-feature survival thriller is set to hit on June 23 via Aura Entertainment—and based on the trailer, this isn’t your average animal attack movie.
Hungry drops viewers straight into the deadly swamps of Louisiana, where a group of thrill-seeking tourists sign up for what’s supposed to be an exclusive riverboat adventure. But once they’re pulled off the safe route and into the depths of the bayou, things spiral fast. Lurking beneath the murky water is a massive, relentless hippopotamus—and it’s not just hunting, it’s tearing through anything in its path.
What starts as a unique sightseeing trip quickly turns into a brutal fight for survival.
The film stars Madison Davenport (It’s What’s Inside), Tracey Bonner (Greenland), Michel Curiel (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Jim Meskimen (Parks and Recreation), Samantha Coughlan (Arcadian), Olivia Bernstone (Fighting with My Family), River Codack (Happy Face), and Joaquim de Almeida (Desperado).
Behind the camera, James Nunn (Shark Bait, One Shot) writes and directs, bringing a survival-driven edge to the creature horror setup.
On the production side, Ben Jacques (The Strangers: Prey at Night) produces under Signature Entertainment, with executive producers Marc Goldberg, Sarah Gabriel, David Sullivan, Gareth Williams, and Ella Field attached.
The film also packs serious behind-the-scenes horror talent. Makeup effects are handled by Dan Martin (Infinity Pool, Color Out of Space), while special effects come from Kenneth Cassar of Extreme Effects (The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Jurassic World: Dominion). Visual effects are provided by Magic Dust VFX (True Detective: Night Country, One Piece).
Between the swamp setting, the claustrophobic survival angle, and a predator that doesn’t stop, Hungry looks ready to deliver a vicious twist on the creature feature formula.
